BTCCSquare news:

Paxos, the regulated stablecoin issuer, temporarily created 300 trillion PYUSD tokens due to an internal technical error. The excess minting—equivalent to $300 trillion at parity—was detected and burned within 20 minutes, according to ethereum blockchain data analyzed by Arkham.

The incident occurred during an internal transfer at 3:12 PM EST on October 15, 2025. Paxos confirmed no security breach or risk to customer funds, emphasizing the error was confined to its operational systems. "We have addressed the root cause," the company stated on social media platform X.

This episode underscores the fragility of even regulated stablecoin infrastructures. The PYUSD supply momentarily exceeded global GDP before corrective burns restored equilibrium—a stark reminder of the razor-thin margins for error in blockchain-based monetary systems.
